President of the Southern Half Parliamentary Front, the state deputy Marcus Vinícius de Almeida (Progressives) called the Public Prosecutor’s Office through a representation against the performance of the CEEE Equatorial group, requesting the immediate resumption of the electricity supply operation. According to the deputy, this initiative aims to ensure the swift restoration of electricity supply in the southern region of the state after the passage of the second extratropical cyclone between the 11th and 13th of July.
Marcus Vinícius explained the motivation for sending the representation, which was sent to the institution this Monday (24), signed and corroborated by other parliamentarians. “It is surreal what the residents are going through. We had a cyclone, yes. The impact was significant, yes. Equatorial took over CEEE with perilous conditions, loaded with debts, structural and operational problems, yes. And I understand that society gave a deadline, a fair deadline, for the company to stabilize itself at least. However, nothing else, now, justifies the Group’s inability to respond and lethargy”, he stresses. In the text, the parliamentarian requests that the Public Prosecutor’s Office open an investigation procedure in each of the prosecutor’s offices in the regions where Equatorial operates to analyze the cases separately. In addition, it requests the operational support service to monitor the maintenance and repair of the energy service in loco.
The parliamentarian points out that the company needs to maintain a constant dialogue with the city halls. “I am a convinced municipalist. No one understands the concerns of communities and the region better than mayors. Priorities need to be established, and municipal administrations know the way, ”he said. According to the parliamentarian, it is unacceptable for families to stay more than ten days without electricity. “This cannot be tolerated. It’s an administrative error. The State, as regulator of the concession, needs to take measures, including sanctions”, he highlighted.
action plan
Marcus Vinícius details that he expected a strengthened crisis committee from the company in case of cyclones. “24 hours after the cyclone, we expected a communication process that was more adequate to the severity of the problem. A natural disaster demands from any public service company, at least, a crisis committee prepared for the height. In my opinion, in the first hours, the absence of this group in Equatorial aggravated the problems”, considers the deputy.
Public Hearing
Also this Monday, Marcus Vinícius filed, with the Security and Public Services Commission of the Legislative Assembly, a request for a Public Hearing, with the purpose of addressing the issue of “Electric Outage in the Southern Region After an Extratropical Cyclone”. The hearing, according to the parliamentarian, aims to clarify and discuss the consequences of the recent cyclone in the southern region of the state, especially in relation to the supply of electricity and the measures that are being taken to mitigate such impacts. The progressive understands that the group did not prepare a planning or committee before and after the climatic events. “There was a lack of contact with city halls, with the population. We need to understand and map what happened,” he highlighted.
