Internacional announced this Wednesday (19) the return of coach Eduardo Coudet, who signed a contract until the end of 2023. The Argentine, who left the club in November 2020 to lead Celta de Vigo, in Spain, and then Atlético-MG, returns to Beira-Rio with the mission of recovering good football and results in Colorado.
Coudet was officially presented this Friday (21st), after leading training at CT Parque Gigante. At the press conference, he praised Inter’s squad and skewered Atlético-MG, his former club, saying that the group from Minas Gerais was “short”. He also clarified the departures of Inter and Galo and poked Rodrigo Caetano, the rival’s director of football.
The coach brings along assistant Lucho González, physical trainer Octavio Manera, physical preparation assistant Guido Cretari and performance analyst Carlos Fernández. Coudet already has some ideas to change Inter’s starting lineup, such as putting the newly signed Sergio Rochet in goal, in place of John.
In his first spell at Inter, Coudet led the team in 46 games, with 24 wins, 13 draws and nine defeats, a 61.5% success rate. He won the 2020 Gauchão second round title and left the club in the lead of the Brasileirão and classified for the Libertadores round of 16 and Copa do Brasil quarterfinals.
The Colorado fans expect Coudet to repeat or surpass this performance and bring titles to Inter. The first challenge will be this Sunday (23) at 4 pm for the Brasileirão. The opponent is Bragantino and the match takes place in the city of Bragança Paulista, at Estádio Nabi Abi Chedid, with Premiere broadcast.
