More than a thousand tons of plastic lids are turned into financial resources for participating charities. About 25% of the amount was collected in the last six months alone.
What to do with plastic lids left over from bottles, jars and packages? One option is to participate in the Nice bottle cap, the largest socio-environmental program of an educational nature in circular economy, an initiative of the plastic transformation industry in Latin America. Launched in 2016, the program aims to raise awareness and mobilize society as a whole to correctly dispose of plastic waste, and also drive a solidary economy that benefits social institutions.
Tampinha Legal reached a new record in the history of the circular economy: it surpassed BRL 3 million in resources allocated entirely to assistance entities participating in the program. This number is the result of more than thousand tons of plastic lids collected in more than 3 thousand points of collection distributed by the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Alagoas, Pernambuco, Goiás, Distrito Federal and Bahia.
A program that meets ESG, Reverse Logistics and ODS requirements
The manager of the SustenPlást Institute, Simara Souza, emphasizes the importance of this moment, which has already benefited more than 335 assistance entities of several segments on the eve of completing seven years of the program. “This value is of indescribable importance to maintain associations, shelters, schools, among other assistance entities, which are dedicated to the benefit of various just causes in society. We want to invite society to be part of this social transformation”, invites Simara. The manager also emphasizes the current moment of the program. “Tampinha Legal is expanding and it is possible to observe this growth through the numbers. Of the amounts allocated to charities, we had an increase of R$500,000 in six months.
Tampinha Legal meets the requirements of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance), Reverse logistic e ODS (Sustainable Development Goals) of the UN. With the resources obtained through the program, assistance entities can purchase medicines, food, equipment, animal feed and/or school materials, as well as pay for treatments and human and animal health exams, improvements in their headquarters, among other actions.
How to participate in Tampinha Legal
All segments of society are invited to collect plastic lids and send them to third sector assistance entities registered with Tampinha Legal. The program seeks the best market valuation for the material and the amounts obtained are fully allocated to the participating assistance entities without apportionment of material or transfers of values. The program does not receive commissions and/or gratuities on the collected material.
Recently, Tampinha Legal launched at Núcleo Porto Alegre/RS the nice cupwhich follows the same model as Tampinha Legal and allocates the resources obtained from the sale of plastic disposables (cups, plates and cutlery) to participating charities.
