Ópera Estúdio – Interdisciplinary Training Course for Lyric Singers continues its series of recitals with the presentations of Voices from Ópera Estúdio 2023, which will take place on July 26th. Two sessions will be held: at 3 pm, exclusively for students upon prior registration by the school by email until 7/24; and at 7 pm, open to the general public with admission on a first-come, first-served basis and donation of 2 kg of food. Both presentations will be at Teatro Oficina Olga Reverbel, located in the Cultural Complex Theatro São Pedro, in Porto Alegre.
talent showcase
Vozes do Ópera Estúdio 2023 is an opportunity to highlight the talents of Ópera Estúdio and also offer a program accessible to lovers of operatic singing. There will be seven presentations in total, spread over four dates, on the last Wednesdays of June, July, August and September.
consecrated repertoire
For the recitals on the 26th of this month, each singer selected a solo work to perform, accompanied by pianist Patrick Menuzzi. The repertoire will include renowned pieces by renowned composers such as Vivaldi, Leoncavallo, Berlioz, Gounod, Sir Arthur Sullivan, Mozart, Donizetti, Verdi, Bizet, Puccini, Chapí, Strauss II and Bernstein. Before each performance, the artists will talk to the audience about the history of music. In addition, the theatrical atmosphere of the opera will be enhanced through costumes and an intimate setting, with candlelight decoration.
opportunity for singers
Ópera Estúdio offers singers at the beginning of their careers the opportunity to study with a multidisciplinary team of professors. The project is funded by the Secretariat of Culture (Sedac) and carried out by the Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra (Ospa), in a cultural partnership with the Rio Grande do Sul Opera Company (Cors) and Theatro São Pedro Foundation (FTSP).
After a rigorous audition selection process, 27 participants were selected to participate in six intense months of classes with renowned Brazilian musical references. Throughout 2023, the public will be able to follow the evolution of the group through four recitals and, in November, they will enjoy the closing show: the complete montage of the opera Carmen, by Georges Bizet.
Success in the 2022 Edition
The first edition of Ópera Estúdio, held in 2022, marked a new chapter in the history of opera in Rio Grande do Sul. The group made up of 18 singers had the opportunity to improve their skills through weekly classes in singing, repertoire, body and scenic expression, among other subjects, totaling more than a thousand hours of workload. At the end of the year, the project culminated in the exciting staging of the operetta The Merry Widow, by Franz Lehár, in an unprecedented adaptation.
This year, Ospa’s artistic director, Evandro Matté, takes over the general coordination of Ópera Estúdio 2023. The project’s pedagogical directors are Flávio Leite and Eiko Senda, in addition to the team of professors involved in the course.
