The Garibaldi Book Fair, which takes place from the 8th to the 12th of August, around the Martini & Rossi Square, has already defined its patron: the writer and screenwriter from Rio Grande do Sul, Letícia Wierzchowski. With more than 20 novels published, including A Casa das Sete Mulheres, which became a miniseries on TV Globo, Letícia is one of the most prestigious authors in the country, with works translated into several languages and adapted for cinema.
a literary love
With the theme A literary love and the slogan Immerse yourself in the words and fall in love with each story, the Garibaldi Book Fair aims to involve the community through literature and reinforce the habit of reading. In addition to the traditional stalls with books for all tastes, the program will feature lectures and conversation circles with local writers, in addition to workshops. The activities start in the morning, aimed at students, and continue into the evening, with different attractions for adults.
“We need to value our writers more and more. Letícia knew how to portray the history of our Rio Grande in many of her works like no one else. It is an honor to be able to count on her presence to further enrich our literary program”, highlights Mayor Sérgio Chesini.
Among Letícia’s books that will be discussed during the event are Tomorrow will be a better day, released in 2022 and which tells the saga of a Jewish family during World War II; Travessia, which closes the trilogy started by A Casa das Sete Mulheres and tells the love story of Anita and Giuseppe Garibaldi; and The Boy Who Ate a Library, a children’s book about the power of imagination.
The 2023 Book Fair is promoted by the Municipality of Garibaldi, through the Secretary of Tourism and Culture, with the support of Sesc Farroupilha. All activities are free and the program is well diversified so that all ages can enjoy.
