A day of celebration and health for the community
Next Saturday, the 22nd, Gravataí City Hall will deliver to the population the new Family Health Unit (USF) Itatiaia, located at Av. Jardim das Acacias, 395, in the Jardim do Cedro neighborhood. The work is part of Qualifica Primary Care, a municipal government program that aims to improve the structure and assistance of the basic health network.
The inauguration will be marked by a series of free activities for residents of Jardim do Cedro, Parque Itatiaia, Vila Neiva and Jardim das Acácias, who will benefit from the new unit. From 10am to 3pm, there will be toys for children, musical attractions and health guidance for those interested. In addition, solidarity actions will be carried out, such as the solidarity hanger – which makes items of clothing available for donation – and the collection of non-perishable food and recyclable materials.
A modern and well-equipped space
The new USF Itatiaia has a spacious and comfortable structure, with a room for vaccines, dressing room, inhalation room and screening and procedure room. In addition, it has five offices for medical and nursing care and a dental office, as well as a dedicated space for health professionals.
Two Family Health (eSF) teams and an Oral Health team will provide care to the community. Users will have access to medical and nursing consultations for different life cycles (pregnant women, children, young adults and the elderly), as well as oral health care. There will also be nursing procedures, such as dressings, application of medications, immunizations, quick tests, among others. On average, there will be 4,000 monthly calls.
The new space will have the capacity to serve up to 8,000 people, with opening hours from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 12pm and from 1pm to 5pm. According to the Municipal Health Department (SMS), there is still the possibility of expanding the area of the unit and increasing the number of health teams, in case of future need.
A breakthrough in primary care
USF Itatiaia is the first of ten new units to be delivered during the government of Mayor Luiz Zaffalon. The works are part of the Qualifica Primary Care Program, which seeks to offer care strategically located closer to the population, seeking greater interaction with the communities in Gravataí neighborhoods.
The municipality has 20 Family Health Units (USFs) and nine Basic Health Units (UBSs), which, in addition to qualifying care, provide more quality of life for citizens. The construction of ten new units reinforces the importance of undertakings in the health area, as they expand access to basic services and strengthen prevention and health promotion.
