Next Saturday, July 22nd, starting at 8:30 am, Parque Chico Mendes, located in the Mário Quintana neighborhood, will become the epicenter of the world of skateboarding in Porto Alegre. About 150 competitors are ready to participate in the 2nd edition of Skate Day, an event that brings together athletes from the beginner, female, amateur and professional categories. Maneuvers and competitions will take place on the track opened in 2021, providing an exciting show for spectators.
With a special focus on the social aspect, Skate Day aims to promote the inclusion of young people through sport. In addition, the event also celebrates World Skate Day, which takes place on June 21st. Participants from Porto Alegre, the Metropolitan Region and Serra are expected to attend to enjoy the vibrant and engaging atmosphere.
The animation of the event will be provided by the renowned DJs Edinho DK and DJ Hood, who will guarantee the perfect soundtrack to accompany the radical maneuvers. The Municipal Secretariat for Culture and Creative Economy is supporting and organizing Skate Day, strengthening its commitment to promoting sporting events that benefit the community.
World Skate Day was established in 2004 by the International Skate Board Association with the aim of making this sport more accessible through activities held in major cities around the world. In Porto Alegre, the date was made official through municipal law nº 12.575/2019, approved by the City Council, reinforcing the recognition and importance of skateboarding as a form of cultural and sporting expression.
The 2nd Skate Day promises to be a day filled with emotion, skill and inclusion. Everyone is invited to come to Parque Chico Mendes and witness the passion and creativity that skateboarding brings, in addition to celebrating a vibrant and inspiring sports culture.
