PUMA and designer Dapper Dan join forces once again to launch their third collection, bringing a unique sophistication to sportswear inspired by basketball and hip-hop culture.
Dapper Dan needs no introduction. Over more than four decades, this revolutionary designer brought luxury to hip-hop in an authentic way, inspiring fashion like no one else. His shop quickly became a go-to hangout for big-name rappers including LL Cool J and Jay-Z.
The collection features classic pieces such as the T7 set and the Clyde sneaker, blending the German brand’s heritage with the basketball universe and Dapper Dan’s iconic style. Basketball players connected to hip-hop culture bring their off-court style to the game, giving rise to the phenomenon known as the “Pre-Game Walk”, a real catwalk where the stars of this sport show off their style. That’s the biggest inspiration behind the PUMA x Dapper Dan collaboration.
The PUMA x Dapper Dan collaboration pays homage to hip-hop’s 50th anniversary with the creation of a unique monogram. This monogram, essential to hip-hop style, serves as the graphic basis for the collaboration. Its design was inspired by early designs by the Dapper Dan boutique, combined with rare elements found in the PUMA archives.
A velvety version of the T7 set takes the PUMA classic to a whole new level, with gold accents and embroidery. Garments in the collection are designed with the designer’s unique cultural interpretation. Additionally, PUMA x Dapper Dan collaborated to create two versions of the Clyde sneaker, featuring the collaboration’s monogram and a diamond print on the suede upper, with delicate stitching and embroidery. These added details celebrate Dapper Dan’s tailoring heritage.
