Cipatex®, a Brazilian manufacturer of synthetic laminates, has just won the Diamond seal of the Sustainable Origin program. The certification is the only ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) and sustainability certification in the world aimed at the footwear chain. The certificate was delivered to the company this Tuesday (11) during Inspiramais – Design, Innovation and Materials Sustainability Exhibition, in Porto Alegre.
Sustainability in the environmental, economic, social and cultural pillars
Sustainability in the environmental, economic, social and cultural pillars led Cipatex® to achieve the program’s maximum certification, with more than 80% of the indicators contemplated. The company went through the three-day audit process with ease and demonstrated progress in several requirements to advance from Gold to Diamond level.
Commitment to sustainable management
“Achieving the highest level of certification is a source of great pride and confirmation that we are on the right path, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable management”, celebrates William Marcelo Nicolau, CEO of Cipatex®.
sustainable practices
According to Sara Trevisani, the company’s Safety and Environment coordinator, for over 20 years the concept of sustainability has guided Cipatex®’s processes and businesses, aiming at integrating the environment and growth, innovation and rational use of resources, productivity and continuous training and employees’ well-being. “In recent years, we have further intensified sustainable practices, which has enabled the company to meet the seal’s indicators and to take important steps in its ESG strategy”, she points out.
At Cipatex®, more efficient processes have been implemented from the point of view of energy consumption, with one of the main objectives being the reduction of waste. The choice of more sustainable raw materials, which generate less impact on the environment, the proper disposal of industrial waste, the development of eco-efficient products and the continuous awareness of employees are part of the company’s operations and development.
