a decade of success
A lyrical Tuesdaya project developed by the Judiciary Memorial RS, celebrates twelve years of existence and announces its schedule for the second semester. The event, which takes place next to Theatro São Pedro, will bring a series of opera shows in a “pocket” format, with the objective of bringing the public closer to the genre and offering opportunities to artists in the beginning of their careers. The highlight of this year is the curatorship of the renowned Flávio Leite.
Bringing opera audiences closer
With the aim of making opera more accessible, Terça Lírica has a didactic bias, providing commented auditions so that the public gets even closer to this artistic genre. In addition, the initiative also offers artists the opportunity to interpret their first roles in operas, contributing to the growth and experience of professionals. The passion for opera has grown in Porto Alegre, with all the theaters sold out, and Terça Lírica plays a key role in this scenario.
unmissable shows
The second season of Terça Lírica will begin on July 18 with the opera “Rita”, by Gaetano Donizetti, which premiered in France in 1860. The plot involves Rita, a widow who remarries and mistreats her current husband, Beppe. The situation changes when Gasparo, her first husband presumed dead, returns, and Beppe does everything to return Rita to him. This cheerful opera, rocked by the bubbling music of Donizetti and the Belcantist style, will have a regionalized version, in which the characters will assume the identity of traditionalist gauchos involved in this love triangle. The cast includes soprano Gabriela Nunes, tenor Felipe Bertol and baritone Vinícius Braga.
On September 19, it will be the turn of the opera “Orpheus and Eurydice” by Gluck, with the participation of countertenor Gonzalo Lamego and sopranos Gaia Schenini and Raquel Fortes. On November 21, Terça Lírica will present “Elementos do Amor – Songs by Clara and Robert Schumann”, performed by mezzo-soprano Cristine Guse and pianist Karin Engel, with choreography and artistic direction by Carlota Albuquerque. To end the year on a high note, a “Christmas Special” will be held in partnership with CORS, directed by Rosimari Oliveira.
Terça Lírica, now completing twelve years, continues to play an important role in promoting opera, offering free access to quality shows and contributing to the cultural enrichment of the city of Porto Alegre. It is an unmissable opportunity for music lovers and for those who want to get to know the world of opera better.
