The edition that celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Nova Petrópolis International Folklore Festival will start this Wednesday (12). The festival will take place from the 12th to the 30th of July, with more than 170 free performances on Rua Coberta, next to Praça das Flores, and activities in various locations around the city.
The official program will begin this Wednesday, July 12, at 7:30 pm, with the Night of Homage and the Ecumenical Moment at the Plenary Hall of Acinp. Starting on Thursday, the 13th, the event will feature the symbolism of the Folklore Flame, whose lighting ceremony will take place at 7:30 pm at the Associação Cultural e Recreativa Tiro ao Alvo, downtown. The official opening of the 50th International Folklore Festival will be on Friday, the 14th, at 7:30 pm, at Rua Coberta, when the show “50 Years of Emotion” will also be staged.
Rua Coberta in Nova Petrópolis, which houses the festival’s main stage, will host more than 170 free performances starting at 2 pm on Saturday, July 15th. During the festival, there will also be dozens of presentations in spaces such as Parque Aldeia do Imigrante, schools, companies sponsoring the event and in the neighborhoods and locations that will host the Cultural Nights.
The 50th International Folklore Festival will feature more than 20 international, national and regional dance, music and theater groups. The festival’s program will also offer handicraft and gastronomy workshops, Integration Parades on Av. November 15th, Children’s Ball, Diversity Soiree, Meeting of Sovereigns, German Games and Diversity, Diversity Fair, Food Court and the World Meeting of Choreographers. It will be a diverse and culturally rich program for the whole family to enjoy.

The event is part of the annual calendar of IOV – International Organization of Folklore and Popular Arts and the official calendar of events in Rio Grande do Sul.
