During the next week, a period of intense rain is expected in several regions of Rio Grande do Sul. Between this Friday (7) and Saturday (8), a moving cold front and the formation of an extratropical cyclone will cause rain in most of the state.
These rains will be accompanied by strong gusts of wind, intense precipitation and large accumulated volumes, especially in the areas of the North Coast, Serra do Nordeste and Metropolitan Region. In these areas, there is a risk of flooding and landslides.
On Sunday (9), it is possible that there will be weak and isolated rains in the Northeast region, while in the other regions dry weather will prevail due to the entry of dry air. Between the 10th and 11th of July, a new moving cold front and the formation of a new extratropical cyclone will cause heavy rains throughout the eastern half of the state, with the possibility of storms and significant accumulated volumes.
The expected rainfall volumes range from 25 mm to 50 mm in the Planalto, Uruguay Valley and Missões regions. In other areas of the State, high volumes are expected, oscillating between 70 mm and 120 mm in most locations, and may reach up to 150 mm in some municipalities in the Central Region, Vale do Rio Pardo, Metropolitan Region and North Coast.
This information was disclosed in the Integrated Agrometeorological Bulletin 13/2023, produced by the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Sustainable Production and Irrigation (Seapi), in collaboration with the Riograndense Association of Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Enterprises (Emater/RS), the Sulina de Credit and Rural Assistance (Ascar) and the Rio Grandense Rice Institute.
