The problem of thefts in the city
Commerce in São Leopoldo has been suffering from the increase in thefts, especially in the central region. Shopkeepers feel insecure and powerless in the face of the action of offenders, who take advantage of the feeling of impunity. To tackle this problem, the entities ACIST-SL, CDL São Leopoldo and Sindilojas São Leopoldo and CONSEPRO launched this Wednesday, the 4th, the campaign “He arrives! Say No to Theft in your Business”.
The importance of the incident report
The campaign aims to encourage merchants to file a police report whenever they are victims of theft. This document is essential for police authorities to be able to investigate cases, identify perpetrators, monitor the most affected areas and develop action strategies. “Notifications of occurrences are the inaugural pieces that help us in investigations, monitor the most affected regions and develop strategies for action”, said delegate Eduardo Hartz, head of the 3rd Metropolitan Regional Police Station (DPRM), during the launch of the campaign at CDL São Leopoldo.
Delegate Cibele Savi, from the 1st Police Station, reinforced that the more accurate the information, the more it is possible to individualize the crimes to reach their perpetrators. “It is precisely from the data indicated in the Police Report that we are able to carry out many operations that lead to conviction”, she highlighted.
The participation of tenants
The presidents of the entities involved in the campaign emphasized that the participation of shopkeepers is essential for the success of the initiative. “This campaign is the result of requests for help from shopkeepers who, in turn, will have the task of contributing”, said Olinto Menegon, president of CDL São Leopoldo. Felipe Feldmann, president of ACIST-SL and representative of Sindilojas São Leopoldo, also emphasized that everyone’s collaboration will contribute to the reduction of cases. To facilitate the registration of the incident report, posters will be distributed with the reporting channels, ranging from the electronic bulletin to the mobile station of the Military Brigade located on Rua Independência.
The presence of authorities
The event was attended by public security authorities and the municipal government, who showed support for the campaign. Among them were the captain of the 25th BPM João Gabriel Dill, the delegate André Serrão, the commander of the Municipal Guard José Carlos Pedrosa, the secretary of Economic, Tourism and Technological Development Juliano Maciel and the director of Public Security of ACIST-SL and president of the CONSEPRO Rogerio Daniel da Silva. In addition, several shopkeepers attended the launch of the campaign and expressed their adherence to the proposal.
