Self-employed professional Betânia Lima Guarda, 29, was admitted to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after having her buttocks filled in in Goiânia. Accompanying Betânia to the hospital, her ex-husband said that she was admitted to the unit with a pulmonary embolism, followed by bleeding in the lung and the clinical picture is serious.
“The medical team came to believe that she would not survive because of the complications, her condition is improving, but she is in the ICU due to kidney and lung complications and muscle inflammation”, explained Cláudio Fernandes.
Betânia went alone to do the procedure with a beautician last Friday (23), at the clinic in Setor Urias Magalhães. According to delegate Emília Podestà, the professional responsible for the application said that she used “hyaluronic acid with a biostimulator”. The beautician’s defense said it will not comment.

The procedure
Cláudio said that Betânia hired a package that included the application on her face and buttocks. “She did it on her face and everything went well, and when she started the process on her butt she felt bad,” he said.
When feeling sick, the ex said that the woman was taken by the beautician to the Integrated Center for Medical Care – Sanitary (Cais) in the same sector. At the unit, a friend was called and the woman was sent to the Premium Hospital, where she remains hospitalized.
The g1 requested Bethany’s health status, but the hospital said it does not disclose patient information. To her ex-husband, the medical report sent this Tuesday morning (27) detailed that the patient is in serious condition and with no forecast of discharge.
The man said that Bêtania was intubated, but was extubated last Monday (26) and is breathing without the help of devices. However, he said that the ex is weakened.
At g1, the Regional Council of Medicine of the State of Goiás (Cremego) defended that these procedures should only be medical, as they are invasive and the Societies of Specialties (Dermatology and Plastic Surgery) also advocate that they be done with doctors.
Investigation
According to the delegate, Betânia’s ex-husband, the friend and the beautician were heard. In addition, the police will examine the product left over from the woman’s application and the medical records to understand what happened.
“It is too premature to say that the owner of the clinic is at fault, because I do not know if this patient has an allergy that she did not communicate and if she took any medication before and she did not inform the clinic”, he explained.
In addition, the delegate said that she is investigating whether the product is registered with Anvisa, or if it has been tampered with, for example. The investigation requested records from the Fire Department and Health Surveillance to verify that the clinic is regular.
