As a way of celebrating the resumption of the Nascer Canoas project, on Monday (26) the City Hall delivered the first Birth Kit to Andressa Lima de Oliveira, 28, who gave birth to Maitê on Sunday (25). This important initiative by the Municipal Health Department is part of the Canoas Week program.
The Secretary of Health, Felipe Martini, highlighted that the project starts at the base, with the identification of pregnant women through the work of health agents and prenatal care.
Nascer Canoas is an initiative that seeks to guarantee the quality of life of pregnant women and babies from prenatal care until the child is two years old. Delivery of the kit is part of the comprehensive and humanized care actions proposed and carried out by the women’s and children’s health care network, from basic health units to the hospital.
Every pregnant woman from Canoa, after giving birth and upon discharge from the University Hospital, will receive a kit consisting of a maternity bag, a bib, a pack of disposable diapers, a pack of postpartum sanitary napkins, a digital thermometer, 100 ml of 70% alcohol and 150 flexible rods. In addition, mothers in socially vulnerable situations will receive a second kit, which includes clothes for the baby, such as a pair of socks, a long-sleeved bodysuit, piss-type pants, a tip top jumpsuit with long sleeves and a hypoallergenic soft blanket. An average of 230 kits will be delivered monthly to pregnant women in Canoas.
