On Thursday afternoon (23/6), the Civil Police carried out the red-handed assessment of a man in the city of Canoas/RS for violating an urgent protective measure. The individual, who was being monitored through an electronic anklet, disrespected the security zone established by the court decision.
According to police chief Priscila Salgado de Castro, responsible for the Police Station Specialized in Assisting Women in Canoas, the aggressor had already been charged with stalking earlier this month (June/2023).
As an alternative measure to imprisonment, he was placed in the Aggressor Monitoring program. After this measure was granted, he was forced to use an electronic ankle bracelet, which would allow the police to intervene if he approached his former partner.
The man managed to access the victim’s residential area, even with the anklet vibrating to indicate the approach and with the police instructions to move away. Faced with his refusal to leave the premises, he was arrested and taken to the police station, where he was charged with the crime of non-compliance with an urgent protective measure.
