Emilice Freitas Satte Alam will receive the prestigious CDL Pelotas Merit Trophy in recognition of her remarkable history of entrepreneurship, persistence and dedication. The Chamber of Shopkeepers of Pelotas selected the businesswoman as an honoree for the annual event, the 2023 Honors Dinner, which will take place on July 14. The award is the result of the positive socioeconomic impact generated by Emilice in the southern region of the country over the last three decades.
The awarding of the trophy is a tribute to the entrepreneur’s inspiring influence, as well as her ethical stance, commitment and continuous pursuit of excellence. Emilice’s trajectory in the business world is marked by tireless dedication. Her journey began when, still living in Arroio Grande, recently married and studying History in Pelotas, she received an invitation from a friend to resell shoes in her hometown. Accepting the challenge, Emilice soon saw a promising future in this activity.
With the support of her family, she and her husband started investing in the business, buying shoes in Novo Hamburgo for resale. Quickly, they opened their first store in Arroio Grande, which they soon expanded to Pelotas. The businesswoman recalls the difficulties of starting her career in such a competitive city, but emphasizes that success was achieved thanks to hard work, hope and solid relationships, both with customers and employees.
The Emilice Calçados brand grew significantly after its arrival in Pelotas and was also established in Rio Grande and Praia do Cassino. Emilice attributes the company’s success to dedication to her work and to the bonds established with customers and employees. She expresses her gratitude to her family, customers and all employees who participated in this journey, leaving a legacy. Passionate about what she does, Emilice reaffirms her commitment to keep moving forward.

The objective is to celebrate professionals and institutions that stood out for their contributions in the city. The ceremony is scheduled for July 14, at 8 pm, at the prestigious Clube Brilhante.
