Before embarking on an academic season in the United States, the talented pianist from Rio Grande do Sul, Jesyel Cezar, will present a recital at Instituto Ling, in which he will perform compositions by renowned classical musicians. The repertoire will include the Sonata Op. 2 nº 2 in A major, by Ludwing Van Beethoven; Ballad No. 1, Op. 23 in G minor, by Frederic Chopin; the piano piece Jeux d’Eau, by Maurice Ravel; and the Danzas Argentinas, Op. 2, by Alberto Ginastera.
The recital will take place on June 29, Thursday, at 8 pm. Tickets are available for R$50 for full admission and R$25 for half-price, and can be purchased through the website www.institutoling.org.br or at the reception of the cultural center located at Rua João Caetano, 440.
Jesyel, born in Santa Maria, recently completed his degree in piano at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), under the guidance of renowned professor Ney Fialkow.
In order to improve his skills, he applied for scholarships at four American universities: Sam Houston State University, University of Wyoming, University of South Dakota and Bowling Green State University. Jesyel passed all the institutions and chose to study in Wyoming, where he will leave in August.
Due to her musical talent, Jesyel has already received two awards. In 2018, he won first prize at the V Franz Liszt Foundation Composition Competition, held in Italy, which highlighted his ability as a composer. In 2021, demonstrating his virtuosity on the piano, he received third prize at the XXX Souza Lima Piano Competition.
