Get ready for the most anticipated event of the year for cycling enthusiasts in Rio Grande do Sul! On the 1st and 2nd of July, the Porto Alegre stage of the Gaúcho Cycling Championship promises to take spectators to the brink of breathlessness. Organized by the renowned team FS Team, this stage marks a crucial moment in the championship, bringing to the capital of Rio Grande do Sul some of the best cyclists in the region.
The Gaucho Cycling Championship covers nine stages, held in different cities of the state. Porto Alegre was chosen to host the electrifying 5th stage, which features two modalities: the Individual Time Trial (CRI) and the Resistance Test. Prepare to witness intense rivalries and impressive displays of endurance and skill.
On Saturday, July 1st, the Individual Time Trial (CRI) event will start at 12:00 on Av. Edvaldo Pereira Paiva, in front of the Internacional Stadium. On Sunday, July 2nd, starting at 9am, the Resistance Test will take place, starting and finishing in front of the Golden Lake – Multiplan development, and a route that will pass along the stunning Guaíba coastline.
For those wishing to compete, registration must be made in advance on the website. www.sprinta.com.br and ends on the 26th of June. Entries will not be accepted on the day of the event. Athletes must join the Gaúcho Cycling Federation at least two days in advance, so that their points are counted in the 2023 Gaúcho Cycling Ranking.

Gaucho Cycling Championship: A Celebration of Speed
The Gaúcho Cycling Championship offers a wide variety of road cycling categories to suit all tastes and ages. From the Elite category to the Master (A, B and C), Junior, Youth, Children, Female Elite, Female Master, Veteran, Rookie and Paracycling divisions, there will be fierce disputes in all modalities. Competition includes both the challenging Individual Time Trial, where every second counts, and the exciting Road Race, which highlights the power and strategy of individual and team efforts.
Road cycling, the oldest form of competitive cycling, began in Paris in 1868. Since then, the sport has captivated athletes and spectators alike with its excitement and adrenaline rush. Present at the Olympics since the first edition in Athens-1896, road cycling is a sports competition that involves individual and team events. In the time trial, individual skill is put to the test, while in the road race, strategy and stamina are key to achieving victory.
Road bikes, usually built with carbon frames and other lightweight materials, are designed for efficiency and aerodynamics. With an average weight of less than 7 kg, these bikes allow cyclists to save energy and reach impressive speeds.
