The case of a 38-year-old woman from Hortolândia, who is hospitalized with the disease, was also confirmed.
In addition to Paulínia’s patient, six suspected cases are being investigated in Hortolândia, four in Santa Isabel, including two with hospitalization, two in Jundiaí, two in Itupeva, one in Americana and one in Mogi Guaçu. Most patients respond well to treatments.
Fazenda Santa Margarida is located in the district of Joaquim Egídio, considered the epicenter of the disease in the region of Campinas. The site was closed temporarily, after the emergence of cases.
In a statement, Fazenda Santa Margarida informed that it has already filed a plan of action for environmental and communication contingencies with the city of Campinas to mitigate the risks of transmission of spotted fever. As soon as the City Hall approves the actions, the farm will publish the main actions.
The city hall informed that the action plan presented by the farm is being evaluated and that other measures valid for the entire city, such as reinforcing the signaling of areas with ticks and placing alert posters in health units, have already been adopted.
