About the project
The show “Relógios de Areia” and the workshops are part of the project “Navegando em Versos e Canções”, a tour by the group Náufragos Urbanos that has toured Rio Grande do Sul promoting its most recent release, the CD “Relógios de Areia”. The work has the collaboration of the poet and composer Martim César, the musician and composer Ricardo Fragoso and the singer Rô Bjerk. In addition to the musical shows, the project includes music and poetry workshops, as well as artistic production actions of social musical projects in the regions where the shows are held, with pocket shows presented at the opening of each show.
The project also includes historical research on the participating groups and the production of mini-documentaries that portray the trajectory of each of the musical projects that are presented at the opening of the shows. The videos will be released on social networks and on the YouTube channel of the Náufragos Urbanos group.
The tour of the Náufragos Urbanos group began in May, passing through Caxias do Sul on the 9th and 10th, where they interacted with the Maracatu group from the Associação Criança e Jovens no Esporte (CAE), and Camaquã on the 12th and 13th, with the opening of the Getúlio Vargas Chamber Orchestra. After Porto Alegre, in June on the 21st and 22nd, the tour will arrive in Ijuí, with workshops and a show on the 25th and 26th of August, respectively, with opening act by the group A Cena Vive. The last city covered will be Pelotas, with the participation of Centro de Cultura, Esporte e Lazer Anjos e Querubins at the opening of the show (date and place to be defined). Shows start at 8pm. All activities have free admission and tickets can be picked up at theaters during business hours.
The album
“Relógios de Areia” is the second CD by the group Náufragos Urbanos, whose formation was consolidated at the 12th Porto Alegre Music Festival, where they received awards for best music and best lyrics with the composition “Desde o cais de uma Janela”. This work is maturity and represents the trajectory of this maritime group that, more and more, sails through the waters of Brazilian popular music, without ceasing to appreciate the regional flavors of southern Brazil.
In this new work, which continues the surprising first CD “Cartas de Marear”, we find the same formula, with the fusion of the poems of the award-winning Jaguar poet Martim César with the arrangements and melodies of the equally awarded musician, composer and interpreter Ricardo Fragoso, accompanied by beautiful and crystalline voice of the award-winning interpreter Rô Bjerk.
Sambinhas, waltzes, toadas, bossas and ballads with spices ranging from “the wharves” by Lupicínio Rodrigues and Avendano Junior – master of Pelotense choro – to “the beaches” by Bob Marley and Sílvio Caldas. In addition, the album has a very special arrangement for “Tanta Saudade”, by Djavan, which gains a touch of “Chorinho dos Novos Baianos”.
With musical production by Ricardo Fragoso and Maurício Chaise, the CD “Relógios de Areia” is an invitation to get to know a little more about the musical work of Náufragos Urbanos, diving into the poetry and rhythms that mark the culture of southern Brazil.
