The Chamber of Deputies approved, this Wednesday (June 14), the provisional measure that recreates the Mais Médicos program. Now, the MP goes to the Senate for approval.
The measure foresees that the exchange doctor will be able to participate in the program for 4 years without the need to revalidate the diploma. Before, the period was only 3 years. The MP also opens up possibilities for extending contracts and paying compensation to encourage the arrival of doctors in areas that are difficult to establish.
Doctors who participated in the program until December 2022 will have access to the rehiring rule, regardless of the period of performance. Those who participated in Mais Médicos for more than 4 years can only be rehired with the revalidation of the diploma.

Revalida, required to obtain registration to practice medicine in Brazil for physicians trained in other countries, will also undergo changes: the periodicity will be every 4 months, and no longer every six months.
During the MP approval process, government and opposition deputies agreed to remove an excerpt that would allow the waiver of the practical test of clinical skills for candidates approved in periodic evaluations, referring to the period of 48 months of performance. Thus, doctors will still need to pass the practical exam.
