The use of Chromebooks in classrooms and in all school spaces has become a common practice in São Leopoldo. Thanks to City Hall investment, through the Municipal Department of Education (Smed), several schools have already received laptops with Internet access, and even more devices will be delivered soon.
Chromebooks offer greater flexibility in studying and working because of their portability. They can be used both in classrooms and in auditoriums, technology spaces and much more. An example of the versatile functioning of these devices is the Municipal School of Early Childhood Education (Emei) Vitória Régia (Santos Dumont), which used Chromebooks to improve the processes of meetings, planning and class councils. One of these actions took place during the Class Council of Children’s Class 3, on Tuesday, June 6th.
According to Adriana Souza, supervisor at EMEI, “These equipment came to improve even more the work of teachers, optimizing time and involving all participants in the learning process. They allowed for interaction between educators and families, professional improvement, ease of records and the creation of pedagogical documentation for the classes, as well as reflective observations. These practices resulted in a more efficient conduction of Class Councils this year, thanks to the use of this important tool. The activities reflect directly on the learning processes and development of children”.
Smed is constantly improving the use of Chromebooks through training sessions held with school teams by the Municipal Educational Technology Center (NTM). In addition, the secretariat invests in various digital technologies, such as an extensive online library, a new school management program (G6) and the ClickIdeia educational platform. “These computers are part of a technology program that will be launched soon. They are part of a pedagogical plan and are an important part of a context that expands and facilitates the use of technology in schools, modernizing and enriching the educational journey with something that is familiar to the new generation”, says Professor Ricardo Luz, head of the SMED.
The introduction of Chromebooks in São Leopoldo schools has provided significant benefits for the educational process. These portable devices, combined with the training offered by Smed and the other digital technologies available, are optimizing the work of teachers, promoting interaction between educators and families, and contributing to the improvement of learning processes. With this initiative, the city is following a modern path adapted to the needs of the new generation.
