The Epidemiological Surveillance of Jundiaí (SP) is working to determine the cause of death of the Formula C300 driver, Douglas Pereira Costa, aged 42, who died this Friday (9), as well as the death of his girlfriend, from São Paulo (SP), which took place on the same day.
The pilot and his girlfriend, dentist and biomedical Mariana Giordano, died after being hospitalized with symptoms of fever, body pain and rashes. Douglas was undergoing medical care at a hospital in Jundiaí, while Mariana was hospitalized in the city of São Paulo.
Authorities are considering several possibilities, including dengue, Rocky Mountain spotted fever and leptospirosis, as potential causes of these deaths, and are conducting thorough investigations to obtain more information.

The pilot resided in Indaiatuba and was hospitalized in a private hospital in the city. The medical team identified the symptoms presented as possible indicators of dengue, Rocky Mountain spotted fever or leptospirosis. Therefore, the case was registered as suspected of these diseases.
As stated in the notification form, the first signs of the disease appeared on June 3, including fever, body aches and rash, later evolving into a more serious condition. It is mentioned that the couple may have been exposed to the disease in a rural region in the city of Campinas (SP) before June 3rd and in Monte Verde (MG) on the 3rd and 4th of the same month.
The pilot’s girlfriend, Mariana Giordano, who lives in the city of São Paulo, sought medical assistance at a hospital in the capital.
