The Epidemiological Surveillance of Jundiaí initiated an investigation to determine the cause of death of the Formula C300 pilot, Douglas Pereira Costa, 42 years old. He died on Thursday (08) and coincidentally, in São Paulo, his girlfriend, Mariana Giordano, died.
According to friends, the last trip they took together was to Monte Verde. The Monte Verde Tourism Secretariat informs that the region does not have a star tick there due to the climate. The first suspicions were spotted fever.

In a note, the Municipality of Jundiaí reported that it was notified on Thursday (8) about the occurrence of the death.
“Considering the symptoms presented, the medical team notified the case as suspected dengue, Rocky Mountain spotted fever and leptospirosis.”
According to the notification form, the symptoms started on June 3 with fever, body pain, rash, evolving into a more serious condition. There are reports of displacement to a rural area in the municipality of Campinas before June 3rd, and to Monte Verde/MG on June 3rd and 4th.
The biological samples collected will be sent to the Adolpho Lutz Institute on Monday (12) to define the diagnosis.
The pilot’s girlfriend was treated at a private hospital in the Capital, with the same symptoms, before dying.
The burial of Douglas Pereira Costa took place this Friday morning (09) in the city of Itupeva.
Douglas competed in Formula C300 and ran the Dellano furniture store in Jundiaí.
