A 50-year-old professional from the Maritime Firefighters Group (GBMar) died after drowning on Pitangueiras beach, in Guarujá, on the coast of São Paulo. As found by g1 this Sunday (4), Wilson Santos Moya, 50, had a sudden illness while surfing.
GBMar reported that the victim was taken out of the water already unconscious by another surfer. He was practicing the sport in the same place when he noticed that Wilson fell off the board and was taking his time to come up from the bottom of the sea.
According to the City of Guarujá, the Mobile Emergency Service (Samu) was activated and two ambulances went to the beach: one basic and one advanced.
The teams tried to revive the retired firefighter for 30 minutes, but were unsuccessful and the death was found on the beach. Wilson’s body was recognized by family members and the burial was scheduled for the Consolação Cemetery, in Vicente de Carvalho.

Second victim in less than a month
Another surfer drowned in Guarujá (SP) days before Wilson Santos Moya. The case in question happened in Praia das Asturias. The 45-year-old victim was rescued by firefighters and sent to the city’s Central Emergency Room, but could not resist.
Still according to Gbmar, it is not known what motivated the drowning. The suspicions are secondary causes, such as a sudden illness or some trauma with the board.
