Mayor Adiló Didomenico held this Saturday (20/05) the inauguration of the scale at the Municipal Sanitary Landfill Weighing Center. This new measure will provide the municipality with greater control over the quantity and quality of waste received, allowing for in-depth studies.
According to the Secretary for the Environment, João Uez, the weighing of the materials that arrive at the landfill will complement the final disposal process of urban waste. Currently, the landfill receives a daily average of 450 tons of waste, 390 tons of organic waste and about 60 tons of selective waste, which could be recycled. With the new automatic weighing scale, there will be significant savings for the municipality, as payment to Codeca will be based on weight in kilograms, and no longer on the distance traveled in kilometers, as explained by the secretary.
Mayor Adiló Didomenico highlighted the municipality’s great concern for the environment and emphasized that the Municipal Landfill has one of the best treatments for leachate from deposited waste. He emphasized the importance of resuming the practice of separating and recycling waste, avoiding waste of resources. “We should be proud of the treatment given to waste. Our landfill is an example. However, society needs to relearn how to recycle and stop spending money burying resources,” said the mayor.
After the inauguration, a visit was made to the Municipal Landfill, which was attended by councilors Sandro Fantinel and Renato Oliveira, Secretary of Works Norberto Soletti, director-president of Samae Gilberto Neletti, director of operations at Codeca Rafael Tregansin and by the president of the Union of Neighborhood Associations (UAB) Valdir Walter.
