Traditionally, the planting of manacás da Serra in Morro Reuter is carried out by the city hall in June as part of the celebrations of the month of the environment. This year, the city hall invites the community to indicate places where the seedlings will be planted free of charge. The only requirement is that the applicant undertakes to care for and water the plant.
PLANTING PER STREET
Residents interested in having manacás planted should organize themselves by street, talk to neighbors and send a message to the WhatsApp number 99894-8586. The message must contain the applicant’s full name, the desired address for planting (street, number and location) and the number of desired seedlings.
PLANTING ON PUBLIC SIDEWAYS
Planting will only take place on public sidewalks. On roads that do not have paved sidewalks, the distance between the seedlings will be five meters. The request will be evaluated by the Municipal Administration and, if considered feasible, the moment of planting will be agreed with the applicant. The seedlings were acquired by the Municipal Environment Council and this action is part of the Environment Week.
TO PLANT
The manacá da Serra is always mentioned in lists of recommended trees for urban areas due to its characteristics. Its roots are not aggressive and do not cause damage to sidewalks and walls, in addition, its small or medium size does not interfere with the electrical network.
