Next Sunday (21st), the Iberê Foundation will open its doors for the 3rd Soiree Bach Brasil, a recital that will present works by Bach, Handel and Vivaldi performed with period instruments by the harpsichordist and artistic director Fernando Cordella and the guest soloists of the Ensemble Bach Brazil: Cíntia de Los Santos (soprano), Giovani dos Santos (baroque violin) and Marcio Ceconello (baroque violin). The event will take place at 5 pm, in the foundation’s auditorium, with limited tickets and password distribution, but admission is free.
Fernando Cordella is recognized as one of the main harpsichordists of his generation in Latin America and acts as conductor and artistic director of Sociedade Bach Porto Alegre. He has performed as a soloist and guest conductor in the main orchestras in Brazil and abroad in partnership with renowned artists. In addition, Cordella is a professor of the Harpsichord Class at the São Paulo Municipal School of Music and coordinator of the Baroque Music Workshop at the same institution.
The Bach Society Brasil is an initiative that seeks to rescue the authenticity of the work of the composer Johann Sebastian Bach through interpretation with period instruments and specialist interpreters in this style. Founded in 2020, in Porto Alegre, by a group of professionals and lovers of baroque music, the society follows in the footsteps of other “Bach societies” that emerged in Europe and America in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
