The Canoas Mother’s Day Fair, promoted by the Municipal Secretariat for Economic Development, Tourism and Innovation (SMDETI), was inaugurated this Monday (8). The event, which takes place on Rua Tiradentes, between Rua 15 de Janeiro and Avenida Getúlio Vargas, downtown, will run until next Saturday (13). Opening hours are from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, Monday to Friday, and from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on Saturday.
The products marketed are authored by the artisans who make up the Canoense Forum of Solidarity Economy. The options include handicrafts, dolls, rails, crochet games, EVA, stones, as well as food items such as bread, cakes and biscuits, all produced with natural ingredients, as well as flowers and plants.
According to Sandra Marisa, director of Solidary Economy at SMDETI, the event stimulates the solidary economy and values local producers and artisans. “The fair consolidates SMDETI’s work in helping people from Cano to boost their income through our training and incentives with the bias of sustainable associations”, she says.
For Sandra Pires, coordinator of the Canoense Forum for the Solidarity Economy, the Mother’s Day Fair is a special moment for all participants. “We have been working since the beginning of the year waiting for this moment. We have some craft work that has been in the works for months to be ready now. In the production of seedlings of flowers and plants, there is all the preparation and cultivation, which require time of care”, she points out.
