Doctors accredited to the Institute of Health Assistance for Public Servants of Rio Grande do Sul (IPE-Saúde) maintain their stoppage until May 23, when they will meet again.
At the Extraordinary General Assembly held on the night of Tuesday, May 2, in the auditorium of the Medical Union of Rio Grande do Sul (Simers), 85% of doctors voted in favor of continuing the movement, deciding on the temporary licensing for 30, 60 or 90 days.
The president of Simers, Marcos Rovinski, highlighted the importance of the autonomy of professionals and offered help for licensing or disqualification, emphasizing that the government must act with common sense and speed in proposals to meet the needs of physicians.
At the AGE, Rovinski presented Simers’ actions with the government of Rio Grande do Sul to recover the amounts paid for medical and hospital procedures, without readjustment for 12 years. He also mentioned the proposal of around R$ 140 million added to the remuneration of physicians, which the category considers insufficient to meet replacement needs.
The president of Simers celebrated the unprecedented mobilization of the category, which seeks to reverse the 12-year freeze on medical fees and hospital procedures, a lag that reflects in the devaluation of doctors and the lack of interest in continuing to serve the plan.
The AGE was attended by more than 200 physicians participating online and by several authorities, including the vice-president and general director of Simers, the president of the Regional Council of Medicine of RS (Cremers), the former president from Cremers, in addition to legal and political advice from Simers.
