After a series of activities carried out in honor of April Orange, an initiative aimed at preventing mistreatment of animals, the Municipality of Pelotas begins the month of May with the launch of the campaign “Todo Caramelo é Doce”. The main objective of the campaign is to encourage the adoption of dogs from the Municipal Kennel, which are ready to be adopted and receive a new home.
Located on BR-392, km 71, the Kennel currently houses dogs and cats with a history of abuse, wild animals and chronic health problems. They remain on site, receiving all the necessary treatment, until they find new tutors and are adopted. Although the City Hall facility is currently undergoing an expansion and renovation process, visits are open to the public from Monday to Sunday, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, by appointment.
What does it take to adopt?
Those interested in adopting one or more dogs or cats need to go through a few steps until it’s time to take them home. Are they:
– interview with the kennel technician;
– analysis of the environment where the animal will reside – which must present appropriate conditions for physical and mental health. The adoptee cannot have access to the street without being accompanied and equipped with a leash or collar;
– signature of the Responsible Adoption Term;
– presentation of RG, CPF and proof of residence at the time of the interview.
