This Friday (28), after waiting more than 30 years, Hugo Cantergiani Airport is now managed by the municipality of Caxias do Sul. Governor Eduardo Leite and Mayor Adiló Didomenico signed the transfer of the state grant to Caxias in a ceremony on the airport mezzanine floor. The grant certifies who is responsible for an airport. Mayor Adiló thanked the State for its support throughout the process.
With the new administration, the airport’s income will be in Caxias and can be reinvested in works and necessary repairs on the runway. In addition, the transfer of airport operations to the new airport in Vila Oliva, when completed, will be facilitated by management in Caxias.
The Department of Transit, Transport and Mobility, which is already responsible for operationalization, forwards the change in management. The portfolio secretary, Alfonso Willenbring Júnior, explained that there are legal issues of the operation to be conducted, such as receiving ongoing contracts from the state government and transferring them to the municipality.
The ceremony was attended by vice-mayor Paula Ioris, State Secretary for Economic Development, Ernani Polo, federal and state deputies Pompeo de Mattos and state deputies Neri, o Carteiro, and Carlos Búrigo, in addition to the president of the Chamber of Councillors, Zé Dambrós, secretaries , councilors and representatives of entities.
