The members of the Municipal Tourism Council (Comtur) elected, on the morning of Tuesday (25/04), in an ordinary meeting, the board of directors for the 2023-2025 biennium. Idair Moschen were chosen as president and Oli Paz as vice-president, main representatives of Festa Nacional da Uva S/A and MobiCaxias, respectively. At the meeting, most of the 25 entities that make up the council were represented by regular or alternate members.
The official inauguration in office will take place by act of Mayor Adiló Didomenico on May 23. Until the formalization, Karen Leitão Sbabo will remain in office, as president, and Marcus Guazzelli, as vice-president, who will later continue as advisors representing their entities. The head of the Secretariat for Public Security and Social Protection, Valéria Wormann, also continues for a while longer in the position of secretary at Comtur.
The meeting was also guided by the presentation of the report on the main achievements of the 2021-2023 management. President Karen Sbabo emphasized the creation of thematic chambers to deal with events, communication, qualification and monitoring, which allowed for more active participation by Members.
He listed participation in the construction of the Municipal Tourism Plan, as well as its monitoring and effective execution; in the 2021 and 2022 Tourism Week schedule; on International Tourism Day, and in the holding of famtur of entrepreneurs on the Sabor e Aventura Route, as well as the resumption of meetings of the tourist trade with two editions.
He highlighted the involvement in the work of returning Caxias do Sul to the Grape and Wine Region, started in September 2021 and confirmed on April 17, with the delivery of the certificate by the Serra Gaúcha Tourism Association. The management also revised Comtur’s Internal Regulations and Statutes, in addition to defining a work plan with the consultancy of Sebrae/RS, which will continue in the next biennium.
He also mentioned the creation of the Curta Caxias whatsapp group to connect the actors of the Caxias do Sul trade and the contribution to the creation of the visual identity of Curta Caxias and the return of the municipality to the portfolio of CVC destinations. It also had effective participation in the Festa da Uva 2022, in the Deaflympics and Festa das Colheitas, in addition to several other events, such as visits, congresses, meetings with entities and councils, and public hearings.
Comtur also asked the Municipal Administration to increase the budget and open museums, a demand recently met by the Secretariat of Culture. Karen Sbabo reported that, over the two years, 17 ordinary meetings and five extraordinary meetings were held, in addition to the thematic group meetings. “The Municipal Tourism Council of Caxias do Sul is active and present on the Brazilian Tourism Map”, she defined.
The Secretary of Tourism, Ricardo Daneluz, expressed satisfaction at seeing the massive presence of Comtur members, a fact that proves the commitment of entities and people. He recognized that many challenges are posed for the group, but that there are many opportunities for the development of the sector.
