The adorable songs that marked childhood in the 80s, such as “O Sono dos Bichos”, “A Lua” and “Rosa Branca foi ao Chão”, are back. Inspired by the MPB4 album, the show “Guess what it is” will debut at the 2nd Children’s Theater Festival, to be held at Theatro São Pedro from May 2nd to 7th.
In addition, the program will include five other exciting presentations, such as “Amazônia, a look at the forest”, “The Plague of Unicorns”, “Peter Pan”, “Bichológico” and “Frankinh@”, a story in pieces. Tickets for the festival will be available at affordable prices, ranging from R$15 (half) to R$30 (full).
With direction and dramaturgy by Juliana Barros and musical direction by Álvaro RosaCosta, Kiti Santos and Simone Rasslan, Guess what it is ends the program on Sunday, May 7, at 3 pm, with a Libras interpreter. The montage of the children’s musical was built from the songs of the homonymous album by the MPB4 group.
The piece combines the famous songs from the work with an original and unprecedented fable: the story of Princess Rosa Blanca, a flower girl who, on the eve of her birthday, has a nightmare in which she turns into a bud. To save her, the crowing rooster calls the trio of magic numbers that, through their songs, show Rosabranca how to sleep and wake up, grow and flourish without becoming a “bud”.
At the opening of the Children’s Theater Festival, the show Amazônia – A look at the forest will be presented on Tuesday, May 2, with sessions at 10 am and 3 pm (with a Libras interpreter at 3 pm). The show mixes dance, music and theater to tell the story of animals that lose their natural environments due to the destruction of nature.
The play proposes a reflection on the consequences of deforestation and pollution, through lights, sounds, movements, enchantments, dolls and objects that are constantly transformed, showing the saga of the animal heroes.
The following day, Wednesday, May 3rd, at 10 am and 3 pm (with a Libras interpreter in the afternoon session), it is the turn of A Praga de Unicórnios to invade the stage of Theatro São Pedro. The collective theatrical adaptation of Ana Maria Machado’s book, performed by Grupo Oazes, is an amusing exercise in citizenship about children’s right to happiness.
The play brings to the scene the pedagogical concept of play as a resource for solving problems, the child as a transforming agent of the environment in which he lives and the pleasure of sharing constructive experiences.
Plague of Unicorns features a condominium, a landlord who decides to ban animals, plants and games, and a trio of kids who won’t give up without fighting for their pets, spreading unicorns everywhere! The public is the neighborhood that will help Mariana, Bernardino and Cecília in this great adventure.
The classic Peter Pan is the newest production by Cia Ronald Radde, which will be on stage on Thursday, May 4th, with sessions at 10 am and 3 pm (with a Libras interpreter in the last presentation). The play tells the story of the boy who refuses to grow up.
Upon meeting Wendy and her brothers, João and Miguel, Peter teaches them to fly, with the help of Tinker Bell and takes them on a tour of the world where he lives – Neverland. Wendy and her brothers meet the Lost Boys and face several adventures against the terrible Captain Hook and his pirates.
Directed by Dilmar Messias, the award-winning Bichológico is the attraction on Friday, May 5, at 10am and 3pm (with a Libras interpreter in the afternoon session). The show is a fun game with colorful geometric shapes distributed throughout the space, which make up the show’s scenography.
The creativity game consists of transforming these figures into the funny animals, the Chinese Cat, the Portuguese Monkey, the Dutch Elephant, the Scottish Rabbit and the Polish Dog, which are the characters of several short stories.
Bichológico received 06 nominations for the 2022 Tibicuera Award, Best Direction, Scenography, Actress, Show, Soundtrack and Lighting. Débora Rodrigues received the Tibicuera Award for Best Actress 2022 and the Best Actress Award for Olhares da Cena 2022.
On Saturday, May 6th, at 10 am and 3 pm (with a Libra interpreter at 3 pm), it will be the turn of wonders and fun at FESTECRI. Frankinh@, a story in little pieces is a show for children inspired by the characters and situations of Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley.
This story, which is already a classic among different generations, works here as a starting point to talk about childhood, growth, loss, isolation, bullying, friendship, creativity and acceptance of oneself and others. Victor Frankenstein is a strange and lonely young man who, almost unintentionally, ends up creating someone to keep him company, challenging the limits of science and his own age. However, the Creature doesn’t turn out exactly as he wanted.
After all, almost nothing goes as we wish. Victor needs to understand that Frankinh@ has his own will and is very different from what he imagined, but that this was not bad, quite the contrary, this was a fun thing. Thus, the two live great adventures together and begin to transform and accept their differences. The pedagogy of difference permeates the entire show.
