The duo NU’ZS, formed by musician Max Silva and actress Marcê Porena, presents the show “Chico Buarque – Um Outro Olhar”, on Thursday (27), at Teatro CIEE, in Porto Alegre.
Marcê sings and interprets, while Max, the show’s musical director, signs the arrangements and plays the guitar. The idea is to create new readings for themes by Chico Buarque, bringing electronic sound elements rarely used in recordings of the composer’s work from Rio de Janeiro.
Max opted to explore technology for creating the new arrangements, recording all the instruments, from drums to synthesizers, that suppress the need for a live band. With only two artists on stage, the show becomes minimalist and grandiose at the same time.
Songs like “Tatuagem”, from the album “Calabar”; “Sem Açúcar”, from the acclaimed live album “Chico e Bethânia”; “Sob Medida” and “Olhos nos Olhos” gain guitar riffs and synthesizers. “O Meu Amor” is the most pop version of the show that is running around the country. Another 20 songs also gain a new look, such as “O Meu Amor” and “Folhetim”, “As Vitrines” and “Cálice”.
The light for the show was designed by theatrical illuminator Guilherme Bonfanti, who was recently responsible for the lighting for director José Celso Martinez Corrêa’s montage of “Roda Viva”, by Chico Buarque. For “Chico Buarque – Um Outro Olhar”, Bonfanti created a new sensorial path through the visual, linking the artists to Chico’s words and to the public.
