Queen Angela Nicole Fuhr and princesses Karol Michaelsen Fassbinder and Érica Bratz Pescador form the court of German Folklore in the period 2023/2024. The trio of sovereigns was elected on the night of this Saturday, April 22, during the 34th Ball of Choice of Sovereigns of German Folklore held at Associação Canto Amizade, in Vila Olinda. As main mission, Angela, Karol and Érica represent the 50th International Folklore Festival of Nova Petrópolis.
Ângela Nicole Fuhr is a member of Böhmerlandtanzgruppe, from Linha Imperial. Karol Michaelsen Fassbinder is part of the Volkstanzgruppe Freundschaftskreis, from Vila Olinda. And Érica Bratz Pescador is a representative of the Center’s International Folk Dance Group.
Andrielly Larissa Wildner da Rocha, Gabriela Kich and Jessica Fernanda Schaab will be ambassadors for the 50th International Folklore Festival.
The body of judges responsible for choosing the sovereigns was formed by the deputy secretary of Culture of Rio Grande do Sul, Gabriella Meindrad; by the national president of ABBTUR (National Association of Tourism Specialists and Tourism Professionals), Lenora Horn Schneider; by the president of the Santos Herrmann Foundation, Paula Simon Ribeiro; by the president of the IOV Brasil Festivals and Practices Commission, Luziana Amaral Jukoski, and by the director of Higher Education at the Ivoti Institute and Ifpla (Institute for the Training of German Language Teachers), Jorge Feldens. In addition to the questions assessed during the ball, the judges accompanied the candidates to a dinner and held interviews this Saturday afternoon, at Parque Aldeia do Imigrante.
The president of the Association of German Folk Dance Groups of Nova Petrópolis (AGDFA-NP), Rafael Reidel Haas; the mayor of Nova Petrópolis, Jorge Darlei Wolf; and the Assistant Secretary for Culture of Rio Grande do Sul, Gabriella Meindrad, left messages in which they praised the culture of Nova Petrópolis and, in particular, the International Folklore Festival.
In addition to choosing the court that will represent the International Folklore Festival in the year of its fiftieth anniversary, the ball on April 22 marked the farewell of the sovereigns of the previous period, Queen Mariana Caroline Marcon, the first princess Tainara Iasmin Blauth and the second princess Thais Sofia Paetzinger.
The competition for choosing the sovereigns was carried out by the Association of German Folk Dance Groups of Nova Petrópolis, with support from the Municipal Administration.
The 50th Nova Petrópolis International Folklore Festival takes place from the 12th to the 33rd of July, at Rua Coberta. The event is organized by the Association of German Folk Dance Groups and the City Hall of Nova Petrópolis.
