The Cinemateca Capitólio (Rua Demétrio Ribeiro, 1085 – Centro Histórico, Porto Alegre) will show the animation Frankenweenie at the Vagalume Session on May 6th and 7th. Tim Burton’s classic released by Disney in 2012 will have sessions in the dubbed version at 3 pm. Popular tickets cost only R$ 4.00 (full price) and R$ 2.00 (half price).
black and white
Shot in black and white, the film was produced using the stop-motion technique, which consists of capturing several images in sequence with inanimate objects – in this case, clay dolls.
This parody of horror films made for children is a remake of a short film of the same name, also created and directed by Burton in 1984. In the plot, a boy, Victor Frankenstein, resurrects his pet dog, Sparky, with bioelectricity techniques. A friend of the boy discovers everything and, from then on, Victor and Sparky will have quite a challenge ahead.
Visitation
To complete the program, from 2:30 pm, spectators will be able to visit the main spaces of the building inaugurated in 1928, which houses the largest cinematheque in the south of the country. In the projectionist’s room, children and adults will be able to handle the film rolls and see the film and digital projectors up close. The library and collection room are also included in the itinerary. The tour is free and only 20 tickets will be distributed to the public.
