The soirée Sopapo Poético in April honors the master Telmo Flores, highlighting his compositions with a presentation by Banda Kalunga. The event will be at Afrosul Odomodê on Tuesday (25), at 7:30 pm. Admission is free.
The meeting was promoted by Associação Negra de Cultura (ANdC) and evokes black protagonism, in a circle of performances, reflections and Afro-centered coexistence, bringing together artists, thinkers and supporters of black resistance culture.
Master Telmo
Telmo Eduardo Flores, known as “Mestre Telmo”, is the vocalist and main composer of the group. In visceral and direct lyrics, her compositions, in addition to rescuing the historical Afro-Brazilian resistance, address contemporary themes, such as the criminalization of the black and peripheral population, police brutality, the power of black women, veiled racism and the difficulties imposed on women. black population by the oppressive system.
Master Telmo Flores also has an important history of militancy with the Unified Black Movement (MNU) and the Quilombola Front, in addition to a carnival past, as a member of Imperadores do Samba and, later, as one of the founders of the Quilombo Samba School from Areal da Baronesa.
