When we talk about a casino, large spaces immediately come to mind, with beautiful chandeliers, carpets and machines with colored lights on all sides. One of the largest in the world is the WinStar World Casino and Resort, in Oklahoma, in the United States. This place has no more, no less than 55,741 square meters. By way of comparison, the Palácio do Planalto, in Brasília, has 36 thousand square meters of built area.
But did you know that there are also small casinos? Yes, unusual and picturesque spaces, but equally fun. That, not to mention, of course, the casinos in Brazil in the online modality and that can be in the palm of your hand.
For those who have a good dose of curiosity, below is a list, in alphabetical order, of four of these peculiar casinos around the world:
Cassino Deltin Royale (Goa – India)
In India, a country estimated by the United Nations (UN) to become the most populous in the world by 2023, only three states allow casinos to exist: Goa, Daman and Sikkim. The Deltin Royale Casino is inside a small ship and stands out from the rest for being a traveling casino.
North Cadbury Court (Somerset – Reino Unido)
Located on a country property over 400 years old, this casino has a maximum capacity of 30 people. This makes it quite exclusive and, definitely, for people who like to party, this is not the best place. But this space is not just about games. If you want to open your wallet and leave some good money there, North Cadbury Court can also host your company party or your wedding, for example.
Saloon #10 (South Dakota – United States)
This casino is inside a bar, which was built where a mining camp used to be. Part of the decoration is made up of these old objects from the 19th century. The place gained fame, however, for a rather sinister fact. It was in Saloon #10 that Wild Bill Hickok, a legend of the American Old West, was killed by Jack McCall during a poker game in 1876.
Slots-A-Fun (Nevada – United States)
Opened in the 1970s, this small gambling venue is right next to the large Circus Circus Hotel and Casino and has gone through several owners over the years. Open 24 hours a day, one of its unique features is that it offers table games at very affordable prices.
The four locations above are in full swing and can be visited on a good trip around the world. Some other small casinos, however, remained in the memory.
Probably the smallest of all was the Grosvenor Traveling Casino, which operated inside a taxi, which ran in London, in 2016. Another small gambling space that has already closed its activities was the Santa Ysabel Resort & Casino, in California, which was located inside an indigenous reserve and was operated by the inhabitants themselves, until 2014. Finally, the Macau Palace, a small floating jewel in this Portuguese-speaking overseas department of China. It operated until 1999 and it was there that “007 Against the Man with the Golden Gun” (1974) was filmed.
