The Pelotas Fish Farming Program delivers this Friday (14th) a new shipment of fingerlings to producers who have placed orders by the end of March. They can withdraw at district administrations or at the headquarters of the Secretariat for Rural Development (SDR) – Rua Bernardo Pires, 192, from 8 am to 2 pm. This is the second pass this year.
According to the deputy mayor and secretary of Rural Development, Idemar Barz, more than 12,000 fingerlings ordered by 68 producers will be delivered. “The only reason requests weren’t higher was the severe drought, which reduced water reserves in many areas of the countryside. However, populating dams and dams with fish, on colony properties, continues to be a rich alternative source of food for families and extra income from the sale of surplus fish. Closer to the end of the year, we will have a new stage of orders and transfers”, said Barz.
Requests
Among the most requested species are grass carp, silver catfish, traíra and silver carp. The others, such as bighead, mirror and colored carp, tilapia, lambari, pacu, piava, grumatã, surubim and dorado complement the orders.
The district that sent the most orders in this edition of the Fish Farming Program was the 6th, Santa Silvana, followed by the 8th, Rincão da Cruz, the 3rd, Cerrito Alegre, and the 5th, Cascata.
