This Saturday (15), in Santa Cruz do Sul, the second edition of Old School Day takes place. The event will take place at Praça da Bandeira, from 10 am to 10 pm, bringing together more than two hundred cars at least 25 years old, old motorcycles and bicycles, lots of craft draft beer, food trucks, antiques and a Flea Market.
Rua Borges de Medeiros, Rua Marechal Floriano and Rua 7 de Setembro will also be closed during the course of the program, to meet the great demand for vintage cars and the public, which had already been very positive in the first edition, in November of last year in a city parking.
The regional rock’n roll bands Crazy Heart, Evil Johnies, Old Skull, Dozeduro, Avalanche and Rock de la Cruz will rock the public during the day, on a stage set up in front of the Palacinho. A parade of old bicycles will leave from Loja Luis Faccin, at 3 pm, bound for Praça da Bandeira and is free to the public that is interested in participating. The Museu do Colégio Mauá will also be open between 2 pm and 6 pm during the program and the 25 de Julho club will be present, with typical costumes and cuisine.
“This event, which is on the municipal calendar, is welcomed by the community, just look at prior membership! In addition to culture and fun with things from the past, the event celebrates solidarity as we will be collecting donations of food, clothing and toys”, comments one of the event’s organizers, Alberto Más e Blum. He points out that the event should be held once a year, warming up the entire structure that involves tourism in the city.
The Secretary of Culture of Santa Cruz do Sul, Marcelo Corá, has high expectations in relation to the program. “This event rescues affective memories from school time, of what marked each of us before reaching adulthood. It is a mixture of nostalgia, devotion and enchantment of the new generations. A family event with a lot to celebrate”, he evaluates.
