The blues and soul diva Tia Carroll returns to Porto Alegre, joining the Clube do Blues program. This Thursday, April 13, at 9 pm, Sgt Pepper’s welcomes the Californian singer in an Arco Music production.
Tia has amassed one of the most impressive resumes on the West Coast and has become one of the most sought-after singers in her style, with a featured role at festivals around the world.
She earned five stars in the highly respected MOJO Magazine with her most recent work, You Gotta Have It, an album produced by Jim Pugh, who has already signed works for Etta James and Robert Cray, reaching the list of Top 10 albums of 2021 in the USA.
With a remarkable voice and unparalleled charisma, Carroll is constantly compared to legends such as Tina Turner, Koko Taylor and Aretha Franklin. She was born in Richmond, California, beginning her singing career in the Baptist church.
At a very young age, she was influenced by artists such as Stevie Wonder, Larry Graham and Sam Cooke. In 2022 she was in Brazil for a series of concerts at Blues Jazz Brasil (Curitiba and São Paulo), at the Festival de Blues de Bombinhas, Festival ViJazz in MG and for an unforgettable presentation with OSPA, in Porto Alegre.
Tia is accompanied by the Luciano Leães Quartet, with Luciano Leães on piado, Edu Meirelles on bass, Roni Martinez on drums and Solon Fishbone on guitar.
