Victims of scams and fraud should directly contact a Police station. In addition, Procon RS points out that, lately, there has been an increase in demand for security agencies as a result of scams, mainly against the elderly, because they constitute a more vulnerable public in relation to technological means.
Pay attention to the address disclosed by the company
When people seek to purchase products over the internet, it is recommended to use only the official channels of the companies. It is important to note that the address and CNPJ of the establishment are at the bottom of the site, because this is an indication that the electronic portal is true.
Check if the site has a secure connection
Before making a purchase in a virtual store, it is important to check if there is a padlock symbol in the left corner of the website link. This symbol indicates that the connection is secure and, most likely, the consumer will be on the correct company website.
In calls or conversation apps, do not send personal data
If a commercial representative of a company contacts you offering a product or service, the consumer should avoid passing on personal data, such as credit and debit card passwords. In doubt, the consumer should go to the physical establishment, such as bank branches.
Report any and all abusive practices verified during purchases
If the consumer sees any abusive practices or feels aggrieved after a purchase, it is important to demand their rights with the competent authorities.
