On Thursday (6) and Friday (7), Novo Hamburgo will have the Live Fish Fair. The event is the result of a partnership between the Secretariat for Economic Development (Sedec), through the Directorate for Fostering Rural Development (DFDR), Emater/RS and Sicredi Pioneira 120 anos.
This year, the Peixe Vivo Fair will be held in two locations in Novo Hamburgo: at Praça Centenário, located between Rua Bartolomeu de Gusmão and Avenida General Daltro Filho, next to the UPA Canudos in the Canudos neighborhood; and in Lomba Grande, at Rua João Aloysio Algayer, nº 1238, in front of the Directorate for the Promotion of Rural Development. Opening hours will be from 07:00 to 18:00 on Thursday and from 07:00 to 12:00 on Friday.

Fish farmers are preparing to offer the best fish to the community. Last Friday, the Directorate for Fostering Rural Development (DFDR) in partnership with fish farmer Carlos Flores carried out the “despesca”, which is the process of removing fish from a cultivation unit to take them to purification pools , as a preparation stage for sale and consumption. Carlos Flores explained: “All the fish arrive as fingerlings at the properties and after about a year and a half of rearing, we fish farmers harvest them to prepare them for sale to the population”.
“We did this act here because this property is the first Fish Processing Agroindustry in the Municipality”, praised the director of DFDR, Cristine Becker. “We have our doors open for creators to seek out the Board of Directors, aiming at a partnership in favor of productive development”, she added.

In addition to the two locations, the fish farmers will make the fish available for collection on their properties and/or through tele-delivery (consult with the fish farmer).
