On the afternoon of this Thursday (30), the Brazil-Israel Chamber (BRIL Chamber) inaugurated a regional office in Rio Grande do Sul with the aim of increasing trade relations between the state and Israel. The inauguration took place during a ceremony held at the South Summit Brazil 2023, where the mayor, Renato Ochman, appointed Sebastian Watenberg as director of the regional. The event was held at the RS Innovation Stage, a space owned by the state government, and was attended by Rafael Erdreich, Consul General of Israel in Sao Paulo. BRIL Chamber had already opened branches in other states, such as Paraná, Pernambuco, Amazonas and Mato Grosso.
During the ceremony, Sebastian emphasized the importance of the ecosystem in Israel, not only for the country, but also for Brazil. “We all live with Israeli technology on a daily basis. Israel’s education system has a wide range, something that guarantees the possibility of innovating in several areas, such as health, agribusiness, technology and several others. I am fully convinced that the regional meeting will further strengthen the state’s ties with Israel, something that will contribute to Rio Grande do Sul and also increase the trade balance between the two countries”, he highlighted.
The president of the Brazil-Israel Chamber (BRIL Chamber), Renato Ochman, added, talking about the importance of the regionals. “There are already more than 300 Israeli companies in Brazil and they provide products, services, technology. With the opening of the Chamber’s regional offices, the possibility of increasing trade relations between the two countries increases significantly, something that is already growing exponentially, given that the sum of trade between Brazil and Israel is approximately US$ 4.0 billion a year”, said Renato.
The Consul General of Israel in São Paulo, Rafael Erdreich, highlighted that the countries are different, but complementary. He also stated that he shares the same objectives as the BRIL Chamber and is optimistic about the future of the relationship. “I admire and find the Chamber’s efforts to bring the two countries closer together and increase trade relations extremely beneficial. As Israel’s Consul General in Brazil, I agree with the Chamber’s mission to increase exports and imports between the two countries. I hope that the commercial relationship continues to grow and that the future is much better”, concluded Rafael.
