The 1st edition of Festival do Mar – Festimar will start on Thursday, 30th, and Praça Rio Grande Shopping will be a partner of the biggest tourist event in the city. During the 11 days of festivities, the Praça will serve as a stage for exhibitions, handicrafts and the national karate championship.
The history of Rio Grande is present in the Praça’s dna, and the artistic and cultural exhibitions of the Festive will have the city as their main focus. A special exhibition will present the “Memories of the Festa do Mar”, curated by the Museu da Cidade, bringing together historical photos and the iconic dresses of the Queens and Princesses of the 16 editions of the late festival.
The exhibitions will also feature the artistic work of photographer Ritta Martins, embroidery by Marina Colassanti, woodcuts by Jarbas Macedo, as well as paintings, watercolors and ceramics. The traditional craft fair “Arte no Praça” will win a special edition between the 1st and 08/04, also with the theme of our local tourism.
Also as part of the official Festimar program, the mall corridors will make room for mats in the 1st Festimar Karate Tournament, a partnership between Praça Shopping, SESC/RG and the Kihon Association of Martial Arts (AKAM). The championship will bring together more than 50 athletes from all over Brazil, in the children’s, youth and infanto-juvenile categories.
