The fake doctor Thiago Celso Andrade Reges, 36, arrested in Fortaleza for illegally practicing medicine, led a life of luxury displayed on social networks. He liked to expose trips, big cars and private jets in profiles, in addition to showing weapons.
Documents to which g1 had access show that the fake doctor worked in at least four hospitals in Ceará. In just one of them, in the city of Itapajé, he had a monthly salary of R$ 42,000.
With a certificate of Collector, Sport Shooter and Hunter (CAC), he acquired firearms, captured in police operations. According to the complaint against Thiago Celso, he also used part of the money obtained from the illegal practice of medicine to invest in high-value horses.
‘Unfit’ for director role
A servant from Itapajé, who prefers not to be identified, informed g1 that Thiago was known in the city and was looking to do shifts to increase remuneration. When there was a vacancy in the position of director of a health unit in the municipality, he applied for the vacancy, but was rejected for “being considered unfit for the function”.
Thiago was captured on March 17, in Bairro Cocó, in a building in the prime area of the capital of Ceará. In addition to the illegal practice of medicine, he is investigated for embezzlement and ideological and document forgery, as he tried to validate a false diploma.
The case runs in secrecy of Justice. In addition, the man is responsible for international trafficking in women in Acre.
Court order and arrest
In 2020, through a court decision, the fake doctor managed to get the rectory of the State University of Ceará (Uece) to approve the national revalidation of the medical degree allegedly obtained from the Universidad Privada Abierta Latinoamericana, in Bolivia.
At the time, he was even registered with the Regional Council of Medicine of Ceará (Cremec). It was later discovered that the diploma was a fake and that the man had not completed the course.
During the investigations, conducted by the 5th Police District of Ceará, it was verified that Cremec had already collected the agency’s license, which had been obtained fraudulently and initiated administrative proceedings against the suspect.
In the city of Mulungu, Thiago was also a temporary physician on duty at a municipal hospital, in April and May 2021. At the time, he received a salary of R$2,000 and R$5,200.
In Pentecoste, Thiago was an on-duty doctor at the city hospital for 11 months, from January to November 2022. At the time, the man received monthly salaries of R$ 8,184 to R$ 11,360.
The period and salary that the fake doctor received when he worked at the hospital in Baturité was not made available by the agency.
