The National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT) warns that there will be changes in traffic on the RS-240 from 10 pm, on Saturday, March 25, for works near the Scharlau neighborhood, in São Leopoldo.
The walkway located in front of Nossa Senhora Aparecida Parish will be dismantled. The equipment will be replaced by a level pedestrian crossing, with the use of traffic lights. The services will be finished until 6 am on Sunday, 26.
If you are traveling in the direction of São Leopoldo – Portão, on Avenida Senador Salgado Filho, the alternative is to access Rua DNER until Henrique Scharlau, and then Rua Caju until you reach RS-240 again. In the opposite direction, the best solution is to access Avenida Caxias do Sul, after the Rio dos Sinos bridge, then Atalíbio T. de Resende towards Campina and turn right onto Rua Santa Catarina and then Pinto Bandeira, heading towards Travessa Tijuca, to access the RS-240 and make the return to Portão.
The works are part of lot 1 of the operational and road safety improvements on the BR-116. The removal of the footbridge is essential for the start of works on the Scharlau complex, which, upon completion, will have free crossings, without the existence of traffic lights, with the implementation of a new footbridge for pedestrians to cross. The location is one of the major bottlenecks of the BR-116and after its completion will bring more comfort and mobility to users.
To carry out the services, it will be necessary to restrict traffic according to the schedule below.
Saturday (25)
- 8pm to 9pm: Installation of signs;
- 9pm to 10pm: Preparation and tying of the cables for the removal of module 1 from the platform towards BR-116 to Portão.
- 22h to 22h15: Lifting of module 1, direction BR-116 to Portão (during this period, traffic will be blocked in that direction, and in the opposite direction, vehicle traffic will be carried out in half lane).
- 22:15 to 00:00: Preparing and tying the cables to remove module 2 from the platform, heading towards Portão and BR-116.
Domingo (26)
- 00:00 to 00:15: Lifting of module 2, towards Portão and BR-116 (during this period, traffic will be blocked in that direction, and in the opposite direction, vehicle traffic will be on half lane). The guidance is for drivers to access Avenida Thomas Edison, until Atalibio T. de Resende and then the side of BR-16.
- 12:15 a.m. to 2 a.m.: Demolition of the base of the central concrete pillar.
