The Porto Alegre and Metropolitan Region Convention & Visitors Bureau (POACVB) is one of the supporters of the South Summit, a world-class event that takes place for the second time in a row in Porto Alegre, at Cais do Porto, this week, between Wednesday (29) and Friday (31).
In 2022, the event was a great success and brought together around 20,000 people from more than 50 different countries, directly or indirectly impacting 3,500 jobs and 2,200 students. It is estimated that between companies, startups, investors and speakers, BRL 65 billion have been generated in business. This year, the organization estimates more than 2 thousand startups, coming from 86 countries, and more than 700 speakers in the three days of programming.
POACVB will be represented throughout the program by the president, Adriane Hilbig, by the Commercial Manager, Vinicius Pujol, and by the Fundraising Manager, Ana Barretto. “The South Summit is a top and world-class event, which puts Porto Alegre on another level during its realization. It was like this in 2022 and will be again in 2023, bringing a huge impact on the economy, moving different sectors such as tourism, food, general services and hotels. We will certainly have even better numbers this year”, says Adriane.
Recognized as a global platform for innovation and connections between key players in the global ecosystem, startups, corporations and investors to drive results and business, the South Summit is an initiative created by Espanha Startup in 2014. The event will take place in Porto Alegre until 2027.
Training for taxi drivers
Already in preparation for hosting the South Summit, taxi drivers from Porto Alegre participated in a free training course by the Public Transport and Circulation Company (EPTC), on March 20, to prepare for the event’s calendar of activities.
The training offered by EPTC took place in the Company’s auditorium and was divided into three groups. The initiative served three shifts, with a capacity of 50 participants per group. Three lectures were given: Service quality, by the traffic and transport inspection agent, Airton Fernandes Carmona; English tips, with the member of the Public Mobility School, Felipe Martins Grimaldi; and business tourism, with the president of Porto Alegre Convention Bureau and owner of the White Swan Boat, Adriane Hilbig.
“It was another moment where we could prepare the city for an event that will change our routine for three days. We are certain that our taxi drivers are ready to provide the best service to all the public that will come to Porto Alegre to enjoy this incredible program of South Summit Brazil”, concludes Adriane.
